SR. UNIX ADMINISTRATOR – CONTRACT to PERMANENT
Senior UNIX Admin
Location: Mississauga, ON
Our client is currently looking for an Senior UNIX Administrator to join ourCalgaryorMississauga team. The successful candidate will provide ongoing administration and support of a large UNIX enterprise, onsite at one of our clients. You will works with vendors, end users, customer service representative and other technical staff, to resolve advanced UNIX hardware/software issues. You are able to effectively solution (architect and design) and implement within your area of expertise, and to follow schedules and report variations to their technical lead, Project Manager, or Sales Consultant. You must be available for on-call and for after-hours maintenance changes from time to time and act as a point of escalation for technical problems encountered at this site.
Provide guidance and assistance in the development of Intermediate and Junior team members
•Team player but able to work independently
•Provide design & architecture direction
•Complex system design
•Contribute to long term planning
•Perform day to day UNIX admin tasks
•Provide third-level support response to UNIX service desk calls
•Act on complex problems using creative approaches to facilitate resolution
•Review problems and resolutions for trends that can be identified and corrected
•Develop and maintain accurate documentation
•Ability to lead a small team toward a specific objective
•Technically lead projects
•Some after hours work required for critical system changes and patching
Job Requirements
•5 + years of experience as a UNIX administrator
•Solid foundation of scripting skills (Bourne, Ksh, Csh, Perl)
•Sun Solaris experience
•Experience with multiple Oses (AIX, Linux)
•Enterprisesupport experience
•Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
•Able to provide 24 x 7 on-call support as required
