Position Overview:

As part of the Professional Services Team the Solutions Engineer (SE) plays a key role as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned vendor products and technologies while assisting in presales and delivery opportunities.  Technical competency and a commitment to continual development in certification and training in each areas of expertise are critical in delivering professional services engagements.

Core Responsibilities:

PS Delivery (60 %)


  • Proficient at deploying technology and solutions for assigned vendor products and technologies within primary and secondary subject matter expertise;
  • Ensures the deliverables and SOW are performed professionally, accurately, and within the designated effort and assigned timeline to ensure high level of customer satisfaction;
  • Follows the organization’s Professional Services (PS) delivery methodology and communicates any deviations/risks that impacts project schedule, quality, and costs to the Project Office;
  • Works with the Project Manager, determines delivery target timeline and task break down assignment;
  • Implements and delivers professional service deliverables according to the design and best practice guideline for solution and product implementation.


Pre-Sales Support (25 %)


  • Works with the AM to identify potential opportunities and win proposals;
  • Gathers customers’ requirements and provide technical guidance on product or solutions; (Hardware/Software/Professional Services) based on our product offering within their primary and secondary technology focus;
  • Develops the sales document and sales activities required by the AM which includes solution design, product comparison, configuration, presentations, product demo and workshops based on the opportunity when necessary;
  • Assists in part of the proposal development by providing the statement of work, scope and accurate estimate of effort (for PS work);
  • Assists in the proposal process by developing the technical response to RFPs, RVDs, and other sales related vehicles which includes product research, competitive analysis, write-up, architecture & design and testing in the LAB;
  • Ensures all pre-sale deliverables meet the agreed SLA (default 5 days for PS proposal)


Training and Certification (10 %)


  • Accountable for ongoing technical competency development and training within assigned vendor product and technologies along with ensuring deadlines for vendor programs and required certifications are met;
  • Takes ownership of assigned vendors/products and keeps Leadership up to date on any potential changes or updates with regards to pre-sales and technical knowledge base.

Solution & Services Development (5 %)


  • Provides input to leadership on business product offering and Solution Development.

Functional Core Competencies:

The Solution Engineer for Cloud Infrastructure provides design and architecture, as well as operational support and guidance to customers to support the management and use of various Cloud (Hybrid, Public and Disaster Recovery) environments. Leading and/or participating in projects with the business, development, applications, and operations teams to design, consult, develop, deploy, and agree on architecture solutions

  • Establishing and supporting the enforcement of technology standards, road maps, frameworks, processes and policies related to core Infrastructure
  • Ability to evaluate and assess emerging technologies to keep aligned with current trends
  • Designing and planning architect solutions using new technologies, based on business requirements, that effectively integrate into existing Infrastructure, and smoothly transition knowledge of these solutions to engineering and operations teams for deployment and operation
  • Creating and maintaining documentation related to technology standards, business cases, infrastructure architecture, best practices and architecture frameworks
  • Maintaining good working knowledge of business application, current infrastructure and future trends
  • Represents TeraMach in a professional manner to customers, partners and other TeraMach personnel at all times. May be required to support and train both customers and less experienced co-workers;
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail;
  • Experience in working independently and as a team player;
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment;
  • Ability to perform under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines.


Technologies and Solutions


  • Design, hands-on, and implementation experience in one or many of the following: VMWare (vCloud, vChargeback, VRealize, NSX, vCenter,ESX,VDI), IBM (Cloud), VCE (VBlock), NetApp , Dell-EMC Storage, Backup Technologies.
  • Strong understanding of the following: IBM (Email Cloud Computing), HP/Nexus/NetApp/vCloud, and UCS/Nexus.


Existing Certification


  • Possess recent Certifications in one or many of the following: VCP, VMWare View 4.x, VCE (Architecture or Implementation Engineer) or Any cloud certification (AWS or Azure)
